ICP & Targeting Guide

The Golden ICP
Framework

Stop defining buyers by job title alone. Build prospect lists around pressure, timing, and real buying signals so even a simple message earns attention.

Tejas Jhaveri, Founder of Myntmore

From Tejas Jhaveri, founder to founder

Tejas is a four-time entrepreneur who built Flintstop into a $6M-a-year D2C business before selling it in 2020. At Myntmore, he has partnered with more than 300 clients. He is also a TEDx speaker and has taught growth marketing to more than 100,000 students.

If your cold emails are not landing, the problem may not be the tool, subject line, or follow-up. It may be who you are sending to.

This framework helps you reach the right people at the right moment. It is the same approach Myntmore uses to help founders book sales conversations without relying on daily posting or broad, volume-heavy outreach.

Step 01

Redefine your ICP using pressure, not personas

“Marketing manager at a 20 to 500-person SaaS company” tells you who somebody is, but not what they are under pressure to achieve. Go beyond identity and identify the commercial pressure shaping what they care about now.

Company age under 2 years
Urgent to prove traction and likely under-resourced
Seed or Series A funded
Cash has landed and growth is expected
First-time founder
Less internal infrastructure and more openness to help
Hiring sales or operations roles
They know they need systems but do not have them yet

When your list is full of people under pressure to solve the problem you solve, replies get easier.

Step 02

Use buying triggers, not job titles

Buyers do not always look like buyers until something changes. That change is your trigger. Triggers turn static lists into real-time context.

Raised Seed or Series A funding in the last 60 to 90 days
Hired a Head of Sales or Marketing
Posted two or more new GTM roles
Launched a product or earned a recent press mention
Founder was promoted or changed titles

“Just saw you raised and hired a Head of Sales. Sounds like you are gearing up GTM. We helped another founder in the same window streamline onboarding before hiring their first reps.”

Step 03

Turn ICP and triggers into a living prospect list

Smartlead remains Myntmore's go-to sending platform because it is fast, flexible, and built for scale. Clay is not simply a scraping tool. Used well, it becomes the strategy and enrichment layer behind the campaign.

Enrichments that add context

Crunchbase or PitchBook
Confirm funding details
LinkedIn growth trends
See whether the team is expanding
BuiltWith
Reveal the technology stack
Open roles
Identify growth and operational need
LinkedIn or X posts
Understand what the founder is discussing
AI summaries
Generate insights and useful first drafts
Copy example Clay query
Find B2B SaaS companies founded less than 2 years ago, raised Seed in the past 90 days, are hiring growth roles, use HubSpot, and are led by a first-time founder.

Enrich with job posts, LinkedIn posts, team-size changes, and a summary of recent founder activity.
Step 04

Write emails that feel like timing, not pitching

Send while the trigger is still fresh. Do not overthink surface-level personalisation. Relevance is the real personal touch.

Copy cold email template
Subject: Saw your raise, here's a shortcut

Hey [First Name],

Congrats on the Seed round. Saw you're leading your first team at [Company].

We helped another founder in your spot reduce onboarding time by 40% without adding headcount. Happy to share how if you're open to it.

[Your Name]
Step 05

Follow up with credibility, not pressure

If the first message demonstrates timing, the second should demonstrate perspective. Follow-up is not about nagging. It is about returning with something useful and real.

Copy follow-up template
Subject: Quick case study, might be useful

Hey [First Name],

Following up. Thought you might find this useful: a breakdown of how we helped [Founder] at [Company] navigate their post-Seed GTM sprint.

Final insight

Your list is your leverage

Most founders try to write clever messages. The best build lists so dialled in that a simple, timely note earns a reply. Golden ICP means founder-to-founder empathy at scale.
